May favourites myfoxycorner

May favourites myfoxycornerI haven’t done a favourites ramble in a verrry long time, but they are always posts I love to read, and I always have a few things that stand out amongst the plethora of random makeup/skin care products that I clutter my life with. So with an extremely creative title, here are 5 products I loved using over the last month.

Trilogy ultra hydrating body cream

Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Body Cream*

I was sent this product to try out and have been using it religiously to combat the dry skin that can accompany a change in season. The scent is pretty strong which doesn’t bother me but might be a factor worth considering for others (it’s a natural/herbal scent). The thing I love most about this moisturizer is its texture, something between a body butter and a lotion, thick and yet fast absorbing, hydrating but not greasy at all. This feels luxurious and has definitely made a difference in keeping moisture in my notoriously difficult skin. It contains a selection of hydrating oils such as rosehip, evening primrose and jojoba which seems to work well at delivering on the promise of intense moisture. It also contains mica particles for a very subtle shimmer, however I don’t notice this particularly.

Dolce Gabbana Intense

Dolce & Gabbana Intense Eau de Parfum

Buying perfume for others is always risky, and when I was given this at Christmas it wasn’t a scent I was drawn to straight away. Over the last month or two, with the colder weather and changing seasons I have worn this more and more and its now one of my favourites. Keeping in mind how terrible I am at describing scents, this perfume is a little bit sweet/fruity but has a woody depth (from the sandalwood notes) to its fragrance that warms it up and makes it the perfect cozy yet sexy scent for Autumn/Winter. I expected this to be a lot more intense than it is, but I find that the scent isn’t overpowering and yet lasts most of the day. I don’t really see me wearing much else (fragrance wise) over the next season as this just works on a day to day basis.

I’m unsure about the price of this, I just know that I hope I never run out. Ever.

Karen Murrell Violet Mousse

Karen Murrell lipstick in Violet Mousse*

You’d think that a deep plum or rich red would be an appropriate lipstick for the weather, but I have been far too lazy and instead opted for something easy to wear that suits everything and lasts on the lips. I raved about this lipstick over here so I won’t go on, but the warm neutral pink shade is the perfect everyday lip colour and I find myself reaching for it every couple of days. It wears down really naturally, making maintenance during the day super simple.

Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup by benefit

Mouthfull of a name, and somehow doesn’t include the word foundation (which is what this is). Impressive. I have used this foundation, and this foundation only, pretty much all year and have loved every minute of it. It has a good medium amount of coverage without ever looking cakey (well almost ever, sometimes my skin can make the job quite hard). The shade matches my pale, ghostly face well and this goes on feeling very light and leaves my skin feeling really healthy at the end of the day. This is such an easy to wear foundation, i’ll definitely be repurchasing when I run out (despite it’s slightly hefty price tag).

OPI Skyfall

OPI Skyfall

One of my favourite things about autumn/winter is the nail polish shades that start appealing, rich reds, jewel toned cremes etc (I have a whole post on these soon, don’t fret). Skyfall is one of my favourite OPIs that I love to bring out in the colder weather. Its a dark red creme, with a touch of brown, and I love it especially on shorter nails (and preferably with big coats, black tights and boots). Its also one of those polishes that is super easy to apply, with two quick coats, and lasts about a week for me (with a bottom and top coat). This has definitely been my most loved nail polish this month.

Buy these pretty much anywhere, but OPI are buy one get one half price at Farmers (usually NZ$19.95) currently.

What products have you been using more lately? Does your makeup bag tend to change up with the weather/seasons?

May favourites myfoxycorner**These two products were provided to me to try out however I did not receive compensation for my time or opinions, all thoughts are my own.

November Favourites!

Hi All!

Merry Monday and happy 2nd day of December 😀 My Monday was a little crazy and insane but all is good because Christmas is only 22 Days away! Only getting a little bit excited…

Anyway I am two days into a new month and thought it was definitely time to share a beauty/makeup related favourites as well as a couple of randoms at the end.

DSC_4023

1. Lush Dream Cream
Without a doubt my number one favourite product this month and new holy grail skincare product is the ever so popular Dream Cream by Lush. This stuff is like magic lotion, supposed to be for hand and body but I also find it is one of the only moisturizers that I can use  on my face. It is full of good stuff and you can read more over on my post at nzgirl. Long story short if you have sensitive or irritable skin this stuff could be your lifesaver and at $6 a pot (40g) it is pretty affordable as well.

2. Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Fuchsia

I picked this up on a whim for $8 from a makeup sale store that has popped up on Queen street and couldn’t resist the glossy, fuchsia pigmentation. This lipstick is stunning and lasts a good amount of the time on the lips. After sticking to red lips almost exclusively it was quite nice to branch out and pop on a pink.

3. Butter London Nail Lacquer in Slapper

Butter London are a fabulous nail polish brand and this bright teal is one of my favourite colours in the Spring/Summer period. Bright and colourful with a formula that glides on with two easy coats the slightly higher price tag reveals itself in how great this polish is. One of those colours that I pop on when I can’t decide and just want an all round favourite.

4. Imogen Rose solid perfume from Lush

I love perfume. A lot. And yet my skin and I have this funny relationship where it randomly decides it doesn’t want to wear perfume and I am limited to spraying it on my clothes for fear of sending my skin into a spiral of angry irritation. For these times I thought I would try out a solid perfume from Lush and it doesn’t disappoint. I can use this on my skin and it just feels like a moisturizing serum. Most importantly it still smells amazing, of fresh picked roses (and not the artificial “rose” scent of most perfumes) and is very affordable at only $10.90. I think I may have to pick up the vanilla one next. Bear in mind this doesn’t last ages on the skin but is easy to throw in a handbag and reapply throughout the day.

5. Yes to Carrots Lip butter in Berry

I love  the new “Yes to” range that has come out into supermarkets recently and this lip butter is no exception. Creamy and moisturizing with a delicious berry scent this clear lip butter is full of coconut oil, olive oil and other natural products that make it far superior to petroleum based lip balms in my opinion. It moisturizes for longer and feels better on the lips and for only $4.99 on special was a very affordable purchase.

6. Dove Go Fresh Deodorant in Green tea and Cucumber

I had to mention this briefly as it is a great deodorant for only $5 approx at supermarkets and I love the crisp, fresh scent that lasts for what seems like all day. If you are on the hunt for a new deodorant to try then pick this one up (or the white nectarine one which also smells divine).

What I’ve Been Listening to: Haim (especially Don’t Save me and If I Could Change Your Mind) and La Sera’s song Love That’s Gone

What I’ve Been Watching: After finishing both Dexter and Breaking Bad Edd and I decided to try something new and are working our way through Downton Abbey (and both rather loving it!)

What I’ve Been Drinking: Tea (obviously. This month’s pick would have to be a new organic Peppermint tea picked up at the local farmer’s market) and also cucumber and lemon water which I have never tried before but is kind of delicious.

What have you been loving this month?

August Favourites

Hi All,DSC_1371

So August has been an interesting month for me. I have had a lot of troubles with my sensitive skin which resulted in me completely retreating into a ball of insecurity but its getting better (with help, thank goodness) and slowly things are returning back to normal. Because of my skin being a pain in the … makeup has basically taken a back seat whilst I tried to avoid using anything that could irritate my skin. Nevertheless I have a few beauty related favourites and then a few other random things as well.

1. EOS lip balm in Summer Fruits. Mum brought this back from the US for me (YAY!) and it has been my main lip product all month. The scent/taste of this is my favourite so far, tropical and delicious, and I do find these moisturize and hydrate really well. In my opinion they are better that baby lips for actual hydration, I only wish these were more readily available here in New Zealand :(

2. Australis Go Longwear Lipstick in Diva: Probably the only lipstick I have reached for this month on the odd occasion I wanted something more than a balm was this beauty from the new long wearing range by Australis. I have a full review of the three shades in this range coming up in the future but this is a beautiful, bright, true red matte that is flattering and doesn’t dry out my lips. Also lasts well which is a big plus for me.

DSC_1382

3. Thin Lizzy Mineral Foundation in … So I avoided most makeup this month but there was the odd occasionytg where I wanted to look presentable and needed some sort of coverage for my red, angry, dry skin. I would have thought this powder wouldn’t have worked that great, just because my skin was so dry, but somehow it worked better than any cream foundation to give me a natural, even colour without any irritation at all or any flaking. It is now my default foundation just because I love the finish and I can trust it won’t set my skin off. Around $40 from farmers I think but a little goes a long way and I feel like this will last me a  while.

4. Nivea sensitive foaming wash: Okay, so I am sure you are sick of hearing about my skin issues but it has basically defined my month and this body wash was kind of a life saver. This thing is JUMBO and was only $8 or so from the Supermarket. I love it not just because it is cheap but because it is so gentle that my skin doesn’t react at all and yet it still does an awesome job of lathering and cleaning (which I guess is the main point). Will definitely repurchase this if I ever run out.

5. Essie Merino Cool: This has just been the perfect nail colour for the season. A dusty purple taupe that is sophisticated and appropriate for work. A cream formula but sometimes I do pair this with a rose pink glitter (see below)…I just can’t resist an accent nail. Speaking of nail polish who else is excited for Spring colours?? ALL THE PASTELS.

6. Essie A Cut Above: This is one of my all time favourite glitters that I add to pretty much any manicure but I especially enjoyed this in combination with Merino Cool. This has such a nice even formula for a glitter that I don’t feel like I have to mess around with it. And it’s gorgeous.

DSC_1378

That’s it for beauty! But moving on….

TV show: The Mentalist – Edd and I have been powering our way through every season and I may die when we run out. I just love Patrick so much.

Tea: Peppermint leaves with Ceylon Cinnamon by Dilmah (read more here – this tea is perfection for only $4, I’m in love)

Accessory: My burgundy circle scarf from Cotton On. I think I got this cheap with other purchases but I wear this almost every day. Perfect colour for winter and super snuggly.

Food: Haloumi cheese. We bought some from the Auckland Food Show and I have been craving it every day ever since. This with hummus on crackers makes for a perfect post gym snack.

Random Buy: Our new DSLR camera!! Edd is already a pro whilst I still forget to remove the cap and then wonder why I can’t see anything…

What have you been loving in the past month?

Xx

Coming up next: Only one album has stood out in the past couple of months and I am OBSESSED.

Random Favorites for June

Hi all!

Yesterday I posted my Beauty Favorites so today I thought I would tell you about a few random bits and pieces I have been loving this month (or last month rather…always behind oops). I may get emotional at some point during this post and weep over my keyboard so apologies in advance.

20130704-184837.jpg

1. Jelly Belly Jelly Beans

Le me start by saying I am not a fan of jelly beans. I just never get the appeal…they must be one of the only lollies that I will turn down (free sugar is good sugar…normally). However! Mum bought a GIANT jar of these home from America for Edd and I and I can’t even begin to explain how much time we spend just sitting trying to decipher what all the 49 flavors are. Its bizarre really but these little morsels are pretty delicious and fun to eat. My favorite flavors are Buttered popcorn, green apple (I love apple anything), mango, sizzling cinnamon and watermelon.

2. Strawberry Pavlova Tea by Healtheries

What would winter be without pots of tea and lately this one has been a favorite. I won’t say too much other than it really does feel like dessert in a cup and thus works rather well as a post work drink. Delicious but rather sweet. Stay tuned for a more in depth review of these new dessert teas by healtheries.

3. Natio Candle in Floral Bouquet

I bought this candle at a makeup sale with Karen from Balmain Beauty for $15 (less than half the original price) and having enjoyed other natio products I was keen to give this a go. This has a very strong floral scent but when burned it is a little more subtle and adds a beautiful floral freshness to the room without being overly sweet or sickening. I was expecting to keep this for spring but loved it so much that I keep using it. Lasts for ages and smells wonderful, even the husband likes it which is downright weird.

4. World War Z

I don’t know if putting a movie I saw once as a favorite is cheating but I loved this movie kind of a lot and so HAD to mention it. I actually was not expecting to like this movie (at all) but went because I kept hearing people either say it was terrible or awesome so I had to see for myself. This zombie movie was action packed but also terrifying and stressful and emotional. By the end of it I was a little bit of an emotional wreck (my body can’t handle that much stress) and we almost lost our giant pop corn half way through when I freaked out and nearly hit it out of Edd’s hand. It was fun, go watch it!

5. Firefly

I saved the best (or worst) for last. Some awful friend of mine who wanted me to live in pain lent me her DVD of the first (AND ONLY) season of Firefly as Edd and I kept meaning to watch it (being a cult favorite and all). A week later and the whole thing was over (we got a little obsessed). This show was AMAZING and I loved everything about it. The characters were amazing, the cowboy sci-fi spin was unique and the whole darn show was awesome. Unfortunately due to poor marketing when it first aired the show was cancelled over ONE season so all the incredible potential in all the awesome story lines were JUST LEFT HANGING (WHO ARE YOU SHEPHERD? JUST KISS HER MALCOLM, THEN SHE WON”T LEAVE!!!!). So yeah.. I loved this show but now I am left scarred by what could have been (only slightly melodramatic). Regardless, I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did (and kind of wish I hadn’t haha) but if you some how have not seen it yet GO NOW and feel my pain.

That’s it for a slightly emotional random favorites. What random things have you been loving recently (but maybe not quite so obsessively as me)?

Xx

A Bunch of May Favourites

Hi All!

So its that time of the month for some very overdue favourites! Today’s post will include both my makeup/beauty favourites as well as a few random other bits and pieces that have made May enjoyable.

20130606-211757.jpg1. Lush Flying Fox Shower Gel
This was a gift from my lovely friend Karen (she knows I have a slight obsession with Foxes…) and I saved this for the colder weather due to its rich, jasmine and honey scent. Lately I have been loving lathering up with this shower gel and although the scent is strong, the lingering honey smell is rather divine and luscious.

2. Covergirl Nature Luxe in Hibiscus
I picked up this product at a makeup clearance last month for a very small amount of money and somehow it ended up being what I wore most days. I hadn’t heard of this range before but it says it is a gloss balm and I find it to be similar to a Revlon Lip Butter in that it is moisturizing, glossy with a buildable pigmentation. Hibiscus is a nice berry toned pink that comes across as a my lips but better type of shade for me. Easy to apply, easy to wear and perfect for everyday work routines.

3. Rimmel Powder Blush in Autumn Catwalk
Another purchase from the makeup sale was this new blush that I thought could work well for Autumn. It isn’t the best blush in the world but I have enjoyed using this, sometimes in combination with other basic blushes. This one by Rimmel is a combination of a matte pink, a shimmery pink and a darker brown-toned pink. Together it creates a warm-toned pink shade that is sheer but buildable and adds only a small amount of shimmer that looks quite natural on the cheeks.

4. Garnier BB Cream in Light
This is a big favorite for last month has been this BB cream that receives rather mixed reviews. For me this formula works really well as it isn’t drying on my skin, has buildable coverage yet looks natural. I already have a backup for this nearly empty tube and feel it will continue to be a staple in my everyday makeup routine when I can’t be bothered wearing proper foundation (which is 90% of the time).

5. OPI Nail Polish in Malaga Wine
This is a classic favourite of mine that I pulled out for the autumn/winter months. This rich burgundy is dark but still vibrant and has a gorgeous formula that makes application a dream. For more autumn nail polish check out some other favourites.

Other favourites include this new tea involving Strawberry pavlovas (need I say more? Sweet enough to feel like a real treat), home made dahl on cold nights, the 2 hour finale of My Kitchen Rules that felt a little like the end of an era, the new App from A beautiful mess that is all the rage right now it seems and big, warm burgundy coloured scarves that keep me warm on early morning walks to the bus.

What have you been loving lately?

April Beauty Favourites

Hi all!!

Sorry for running late with posts this month, I had my first week at the new job and came home pretty exhausted haha! Should get into a better routine soon (I hope) but for now you can enjoy some slightly late favourite beauty/skin care things for this lovely month (or last month rather…I shouldn’t write posts so late at night :-/). I apologise in advance for the very mediocre photo but the weather was not my friend and I got lazy waiting.

20130504-215921.jpg
1. Aveeno positively radiant skin brightening daily scrub
I have trouble with face scrubs and my sensitive skin, usually resulting in tight, red skin and a pretty pissed off Lizzy … But not so with this one by Aveeno! This scrub is gentle yet still actually seems to be effective. A new staple in my skin care routine.

2. Davidoff Cool Water Woman
Although this isn’t the most modern or trendiest perfume at the moment I am a big fan of this classic scent. Having always loved the male scent this one was on my wishlist for a while and received as a lucky Christmas gift. This has been a favourite for work as its fresh and clean without being having a strong floral or fruity scent.

3. Australis Colour Inject Lipstick in Jive
There seems to be a rather work related theme to this month’s favourites as this lipstick was my favourite lip shade to wear to work when I wasn’t wearing another favourite (Revlon’s kissable balm stain in Honey). This lipstick is affordable enough to wear every day without fear of finishing and is my preference to wearing nude lipstick, being a very flattering and wearable light pink.

4. Model Co Black Eyeliner
This was a sample bar box product that I adored from the first time I tried it! Creamy and pigmented this applies like a dream. Nuff’ said!

5. Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macadamia
I couldn’t resist the allure of these new Nivea lip butters and I rather enjoy us first one I picked up. It does show up quite white at first but I tend to use under lipstick so it doesn’t bother me. Creamy and hydrating with a little going a long way and a delicious scent to add to the mix.

6. OPI in Bubble Bath
Going through many job interviews and then Starting this new job I had no idea what the policy was on nails and what kinds of shades I could adorn myself with. So this classic nude pink came to the rescue. A favourite for many, this sheer blushing nude colour is the perfect my nails but better shade and made wearing nude nails (which has the potential to drive me crazy) rather endurable.

What makeup/skin care products have you been loving this month?

April’s Random Favourites

Hi all!!
So here is my last late post for April, phew! I’ve been settling into the new job (which is exhausting) and I also had my graduation yesterday so life is a little chaotic haha. Here are a few random things that kept me occupied last month.

20130430-194156.jpg

1. Wunderlist
This app has been a favourite for a while now so I thought I should mention it on here. This free iPhone/iPad app is a great way to make lists for pretty much everything….which in case you didn’t know I love to do! Nice interface and just a generally awesome way to create lists and keep life organised (or just slightly less chaotic in my case).

2. Survivor
I am not proud of my addiction to reality tv shows…but that doesn’t change the fact that they often are the highlight of my week. Survivor is my second favourite reality tv show and I have watched pretty much every season (not something I am particularly proud of guys…). Although I feel like this current season (fans vs favourites) isn’t a particularly strong one I am still enjoying every episode and will die cry when it soon finishes.

3. Whittaker’s Peanut Butter Chocolate
Peanut butter and chocolate are two of my favourite things so this heavenly bar of amazingness did not surprise me by being incredible. Seriously delicious and a must try for those lucky enough to have access to this awesome NZ chocolate company.

4. My Kitchen Rules
In case more evidence is needed for my insane attachment to Reality TV the highlight of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is this Australian cooking show. It’s entertaining, relaxing and a fun way to begin the week. This feels like it has been on for forever so who knows how. Will file when it eventually comes to an end.

5. Twinings Blackcurrent, Ginseng and Vanilla tea
The best thing about this cool autumn weather is the chance to drown myself in various herbal teas, and last month I tried this fruity flavour. I don’t notice the ginseng/vanilla very much as the blackcurrent is pretty strong but I do enjoy the warmth of the flavours when. Get home from work. Inexpensive too which always helps when you drink tea as much as I do!

That’s it for April, Have a magical May!!

Random Favorites for March

20130404-202725.jpg

Hi all!

So for the last favorites post for March I have some random apps, noms, tv shows and so on that I have been loving throughout March. There’s quite a collection so let me just get started 😉

20130404-203203.jpgGoodreads: This is a website/app that I have really gotten into over the last month or two. Its a social media type of website for sharing info on what books you are reading and your opinions on them. I have found it a great source for new book inspiration and it also motivates me to get books finished (I’m aiming for 50 books this year). I also like the chance to ponder over a book and give it a review as it encourages me to think a bit more and be more critical over what I read instead of just finishing it, throwing it into the black hole that is my book shelf and never thinking of it again. If you are a member or decide you want to be than connect with me! My username is Lizzy Weaver (Lockhart). If you want to check out what I have been reading so far here is a post I did a little while ago :)

20130404-203125.jpgBrooklyn Cateye Sunglasses from CottonOn: Now that I am wearing contacts I have been enjoying being able to wear sunglasses again throughout Summer and this pair has been my favorite (although I think they may be a little too big for my face). I like the classic cat eye and the brown tortishell colour. For $10 I was pretty happy.

20130404-203157.jpg

Spotify: My second computer program/app this month is Spotify which I’m sure most people are aware of (if you’re not its a music social media type of business with the ability to listen to radio stations, follow people’s playlists and create your own that you can listen to both online (for free) or offline if you pay the monthly fee of … something). I joined up to the 30 day trial and had heaps of fun downloading (legally) albums that I wanted to try out. I found lots of new music to try out (see my Albums of the month post for a couple of examples). I would love to keep up the paid subscription but at the moment I’m not sure. Luckily as a free user you still get to enjoy spotify online.

20130404-203208.jpg

Sours Squirms: At the beginning of the month Edd and I had our little road trip/honeymoon and these were the sweets of choice for the duration of the trip! I love The Natural Confectionary Co. for attempting to make lollies slightly less evil and yet still delivering delicious morsels of sugary goodness. I also love sour lollies and these were….well, sour? Yum!

20130404-203129.jpg

thereadables: Having gotten back into reading big time I found a youtuber who talks alll about BOOKS and I love her! Priscilla is cute, colourful (she even organized her bookshelf by colour, I can barely see what books I have with all the random piles I have going on) and shares each month a variety of book related videos including book hauls, reviews and more. Check out her channel if you feel like taking a break from all the makeup/cat videos :). She also has a tumblr which I am quite a fan of.

20130404-203141.jpg

Modern Family: Okay so not a new favorite but this month Edd and I rewatched every season up until the current episode and I never get over how much I love this show. I made the mistake of watching it whilst at the gym and couldn’t control fits of laughter from escaping my body whilst cycling, I apologize to those who were lucky enough to my presence. Anyway above and below are two of my favorite quotes, can you tell I love Mitch and Cam?

20130404-203147.jpg

Well that’s it for another month! What have you been loving in all things random?

Random Favorites for February!

Hi All!

Here is my last post for February! I hope you all had a good month. February was pretty hectic but awesome for me with valentines day, our wedding and my birthday all rolled up into a couple of weeks. The only downside to Febraury was the not so successful job hunting…sigh. But life goes on! And here are a few miscellaneous things that I’ve been loving this month.

photo 2

1. Rose Gold watch from Lovisa

I got this watch as a very early birthday present right at the beginning of the month and have been loving it a lot. Rose gold has been all the rage much to my delight because I think its a gorgeous metal tone and love all things in it! When I saw this chunky boyfriend style watch I fell in love and snapped it up with a couple other jewelry items (they always seem to have a buy 2 get one free sale on which is quite alright with me!). They are one of my favorite jewelry shops because they are pretty good quality for reasonable prices and always have products that fit with the current trends which is great for a fashion noob like myself. Anyway, I see this being worn a lot for a long time to come. It was $34.99 NZD and here is the online link to it :)

2. 2 Broke Girls

So for TV this month there hasn’t been anything groundbreakingly awesome but Edd and I did start the second season (I think) of 2 Broke Girls. This isn’t the BEST comedy out there (I prefer New Girl and The Office US for example) but happens to be what I have been watching a lot of this month and it makes me laugh. A lot. So it can’t be too bad. The comedy has a lot of sexual and stereotype jokes so if that kind of slightly crass humour isn’t your thing than I’d give it a miss. But I like it and I love the characters, especially Max who is the stunning brunette and who is my favorite thing about the whole show. Also they bake lots of cupcakes which I like… The one thing I hate is the overused laugh track. Ugh just turn it off, please?!

3. MyFitnessPal

My app of the month is MyFitnessPal. I have an upcoming post about some health/fitness changes I’ve been making and I’ll mention this in that too but this is basically a free calorie and exercise tracker with an added social element where you can follow other people and comment on their entries and what not. I never was a fan of “calorie counting” and hated people who checked the calories on everything before they had a bite but actually this has been really useful in helping me keep track of what I’m taking in and the exercise I’m doing each day as well as helping me make some better diet choices. If you use this and want to connect with me (cause I’m so awesome and interesting…) then my username is liz_lock :)

4. Ferrero Rocher

Ok so swinging from Calorie counting to chocolate heaven seems like a bit of a contrast but oh well! February was Valentines and so Edd and I have been sharing a box of these little morsels of deliciousness all month! Somehow we are able to resist ourselves to one every second night or so (again, being able to look up the calories packed into one tiny mouthful on MyFitnessPal helped to curb my cravings haha) and the box is just under half full yay! Usually these would be gone in a couple of days. I have no self control :(. But yes, I’m sure you all know how delicious these are so I won’t go on.

photo 15. Powder Blue bag from Forever New

So Forever New is one of my absolute favorite shops where I love pretty much everything and can afford nothing! Having said that although there stuff isn’t cheap it’s not ridiculously priced either and well worth the money for the gorgeous clothes and accessories. Anyway, when looking there one day I saw this bag which is the perfect blue colour to go with the wedding stuff and I didn’t have a wedding day bag yet. So I grabbed it…I mean it’s absolutely gorgeous with gold accents and a leopard print lining and its the perfect size for me. However come wedding day everything was so amazing and chaotic I completely forgot about my bag and didn’t end up using it at all haha. Luckily it’s my favorite colour and is a bag I will wear forever until it crumbles and dies on me. From memory this was about $50 but it’s no longer on their website so can’t be sure. My perfect bag. I should have bought a backup haha.

6. Tribal Infusion in Star Anise and Vanilla

A few months ago I posted about another scent of this brand of infusers (Moroccan orange?) and this is the other scent I bought a couple of months later but haven’t got around to mentioning yet. I got this for $12 from Postie Plus and I haven’t seen them there for a wee while so I am terrified they may be gone :( This scent is lovely, mainly a sweet vanilla scent with a slightly spicy tone. I love both of the scents I have from this range and love the packaging too. They last for ages and throw a good amount of scent into the room. This one is kept in the bedroom whilst the orange (nearly empty :() is in our lounge.

7. Totoro Hat!

Last weekend was the Lantern Festival (and my birthday) so Edd got me this ADORABLE hat from one of the many stands at the event. I love totoro and with Winter approaching (although it doesn’t feel like it at all) this is cuddly perfection. So I had to include it. I think it was $10 not that it really matters because I have no idea where you would get these from…

So there’s February, done and dusted! See you all in March

Xx

February Favorites: Beauty!

ImageHi All!

Here are 6 beauty related products I’ve been loving this month! I haven’t been using much makeup this month hence only 2 makeup products being included but there’s a couple other things I have been enjoying for the month of February.

photo 11. Daisy by Marc Jacobs

I featured this in my recent haul post but this perfume has been a big favorite this month. Fresh and floral and perfect for the end of summer when I want something soft yet sophisticated. I can’t see myself ever falling out of love with this scent. Lasts a good few hours but is definitely subtle. I could easily see this being my signature scent and I haven’t ever felt that with a perfume before.

photo 22. Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten

As you can see by the wear of this poor balm stain this has been in my handbag all month, not a safe environment for anyone. This month I haven’t been wearing much makeup but have been enjoying a pop of bright but easy colour on my lips. I love the fact these are moisturizing so I don’t have to worry about dry lips and this also lasts on me for ages! Better than other lipsticks or balm products I own. I also love these berry toned pinks. This looks a lot darker here than the pop of berry pink you get on the lips. Hasn’t replaced Honey as my favorite Balm stain of all but a close favorite.

3. Thin Lizzy Mineral Foundation in Oriental Doll

This was another product in my rather recent haul and has been one of the only foundations I have been using this month because it is so quick and easy to buff some on before I head off. Gives  beautiful coverage without looking cakey and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. This shade is perhaps a tad to light for me at the moment but will be perfect in the Winter and seems to still work fine at the moment.

4. a England in St George

This has to be my favorite nail polish of the month even though I received it pretty late into Feb. This is  a stuning teal/forest green colour that shimmers away all the time but when you step into the sun the holographic scatter throughout it really pops. This makes it a slight driving hazard I should warn you. Stunning colour with a stunning holographic shimmer. In summer the only dark colours I wear are these that are just to beautiful to wait until Winter/Autumn. If you haven’t heard of or tried a England nail polish before I highly recommend you do! They are very reasonably priced and there are often good specials on. I now have 7 in total and haven’t had any issues with them. They often only take 1 coat to be opaque!! And are always stunning and interesting colours that are hard to find elsewhere. Also, they ship world wide last time I checked, so no excuse!

photo 45. SteamCream

So this is the pot of goodness I received in my sample bar glam pack in January  and like all good sample box products it was put in some dark corner of the abyss that is my room, never to be seen again. Until a couple of weeks ago! I pulled this out just before bed to quickly moisturize my neck and decolletage area as well as my arms that were feeling a bit dry (too much info? Sorry, my skin thinks I am an alligator 90% of the time). The steamcream did a decent job of moisturizing, but so far nothing to write home about. But the reason I love this, especially before bed is the beautiful scent of lavender and orange blossom (mainly lavender but I find the orange blossom stops it being too strong, although I know lots of people dislike the lavender scent anyway). The scent of lavender always relaxes me and this is perfect to help me get to sleep.

Another product from the haul…sorry, totally didn’t notice this when choosing my month’s favorites haha. This is my favorite of the two scents my brother got for me. It’s subtle and yet smells like I’m on holiday. I love the soft and sweet coconut with honey combination and have been spritzing this like a mad woman on the hot days we have been having lately.

So there’s this month’s beauty favorites, what have you been loving for February? Tomorrow my random favorites should go up so see you all then!
